A Quick Note Regarding the End of the World

It will not happen on 21 Dec 2012.

Matthew Chapter 24

Because of this following verse:

Matthew 24:12 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” – King James Version

In Jesus’ explanation to His disciples, He told them beforehand what events will occur before the end of the world. In His explanation recorded in the Bible found in the book of Matthew Chapter 24, Jesus talked about signs in the natural world (earthquakes in diverse places, famines and the sea roaring), in the political world (nations rising up one against another, wars and rumours of wars), the spiritual world (false christs and false prophets, deceiving miracles and wonders). However, He warned that these are signs that the end is near, but not yet. The last sign before the end is that the gospel of salvation will be preached in all the world before the end will come. Well, has it?

A cursory survey will tell us – No. North Africa, the countries in the Middle East, North Korea just to name a few. Many have not yet had the chance to receive the gospel of salvation.

Besides, there’s something else that Jesus said in the same chapter.  Speaking of the timing of the end, He said the following:

Matthew 24:30 “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” – King James Version

If anyone tells you that he knows the date and time of the end of the world. You can bet that will be the exact date that the end of the world will not happen.

But The Time of Jesus’ Return Is Near

Written 600 years before Jesus’ 1st advent in God Himself taking the form of a fallen human being, Daniel Chapter 2 is the ABCs of end time prophecies. It shows us the basic broad outline of earth’s history from the time of the Babylonian king, King Nabuchanazer. The 4 political kingdoms in order – Babylon, Medio-Persia, Greece, Pagan Rome have come and gone. Rome was broken into pieces from within (feet of iron and clay) and remains broken.

In the timeline of the big metal statue, humanity stands at the tippy toe nails of the statue. Much of prophecy revealed in Daniel 2 has become history. The next thing to happen is described as follows:

Daniel 2:34-35: “Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.” – King James Version

The explanation of this dream was as follows:

Daniel 2:44-45 : “And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.” – King James Version

The next big event to happen is the 2nd advent of Jesus. Toys like bikes, cameras, fun stuff like holidays and parties are nice, but in the overall big picture of things, they pales into insignificance don’t they? Our heavenly Father loves us so much that He sent His Son to pay the ultimate price for sin. Why? So that wretched humanity can have the chance for eternal life. If someone gives you a free Ducati, you would take it. Why not something much much more precious?
